Decades ago eating healthy was actually easier than it is today. Fast food restaurants hadn’t really become part of the American culture, and burgers and hot dogs weren’t normal lunch or dinner fare; they were pretty much limited to special occasions such as outdoor cookouts or state fairs.

These days being vegetarian is becoming more and more popular. People are beginning to realize there are many health benefits associated with consuming a low fat vegetarian diet. There are also more vegetarian options available in supermarkets and in restaurants these days, so being a vegetarian does not mean sacrificing flavor and taste.

Figuring out how to take a recipe from paper to finished meal is a skill that many people strive to master but only some will ever get there. One thing that is important is taking the time to read the whole recipe from start to finish before you begin cooking. It is too easy to miss something important that can have a huge impact on the final meal. By putting the time in upfront you can guarantee that the final product will be what you expect.

If you can see the waiter’s muscles as he sets down your big plate, imagine how all of the food is going to affect your own hips and waistline. I remember one night at an Italian restaurant. We ate salad and breadsticks, and were probably already over a normal day’s calorie limit. Then we got these huge servings of pasta. It all tasted great, but really could have fed four people.
